The Real National Debt: Is Krugman In Denial?

Former Comptroller of the US David Walker made quite a stir over the weekend when he suggested that the total US debt may be three times higher than the advertised $18 trillion. But Paul Krugman is nonplussed by such talk. The real problem, he wrote recently in the NY Times, is that the austerity hawks have gotten the upper hand and ruined all that money printing.
