Ron Paul: Government, Deficit Always Grew Under Republican Presidents

Republican lawmakers crow about America's need for limited government — but that's not the way they operate, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul tells Newsmax TV.

"There's a pretense that the Republican Party has always been for less government," Paul said Wednesday on "The Hard Line" with Ed Berliner.

"But any conservative or Libertarian that would look at the Republican Party for really dealing with that, they would have to be disappointed.

"Even with our very conservative presidents, Republican presidents, government always grew, the deficit always grew … The Democrats pass all these wonderful things, these handouts, but Republicans feel fiscally responsible and think we ought to balance a budget, so they raise taxes."
